06.25.2009 London-- Venus Williams continues her march towards a sixth Wimbledon singles title today in the second round competition.
In the Open era, only two female tennis players, Martina Navratilova of the USA (nine) and Steffi Graf of Germany (seven), have won more singles Wimbledon titles than Williams.

Venus Williams Out Of Singles, In Doubles
05.30.2009 Paris-- Friday at the French Open's third round in singles competition, Venus Williams was only a shadow of her normal self
as she lost to Agnes Szavay 6-0, 6-4 in a lackluster performance. Venus missed several key volleys in set one then went ahead 4-3 in set
two. But several groundstokes errors and doublefaults did the American in in the end. Williams did win her doubles match Friday however.

Venus Williams Wins, Plays Again On Friday
05.28.2009 Paris-- Venus Williams Thursday at the French Open completed her match from Wednesday as the winner after beating Lucie
Safaraova(CZE) 6-7(5-7), 6-2, 7-5. Venus went down a matchpoint at 4-5 in the final set before erasing it with a backhand winner

Friday Venus plays Agnes Szavay (HUN)[29] in the third round. Venus leads Szavay head to head 1-0 after beating her earlier this year
on the clay at the Acapulco quarterfinals 6-2, 5-7, 6-1.
Venus Williams Goes Down One Set Before Darkness
05.27.2009 Paris-- Venus Williams in round two Wednesday got off to a slow start then dropped a first set tiebreaker 6-7(5-7) to
Lucie Safaraova(CZE) who is a tough player. Venus beat her in three sets in a French Open warmup tournament a few weeks ago.
Because the match was halted due to darkenss. It was moved from the main court to the second court at 8pm due to the length of
the five set Marat Safin match. Venus plays not before 12:00pm Paris time Thursday. She is also scheduled to complete a doubles
match later Thursday.
Venus Williams Next Plays The French Open
05.23.2009 Paris-- Venus Williams has been seeded third at the French Open and got a better draw than could have been expected. Venus'
sister Serena Williams is on the other side meaning Venus could only face Serena in the final. Venus could face Maria Sharapova of Russia
in the quarterfinals and Dinara Safina of Russia in the semifinals.
Venus Williams Ousted At Madrid
05.13.2009 Madrid-- Tuesday in the second round of the Mutua Madrilena Madrid Open, Venus Williams was upset 6-3, 3-6, 7-5 by the 26th ranked Alisa Kleybanova of Russia. Venus had a slow
start from which she could not recover. Alisa at 5 feet 11 played a similar baseline game as the American Lindsay Davenport for the
