Venus Williams Reaches Wimbledon Quarterfinals 06.30.2008 LONDON-- Venus Williams today defeated Alisa Kleybanova 6-3, 6-4 in the fourth round and faces Tamarine Tanasugarn of Thailand in the morning at 7:00am CST USA in the quarterfinals. Head to head Williams leads Tanasugarn 6-0 and has never lost more than 4 games in any set to her, but Tanasugarn won a grass tournament in the Netherlands the week before Wimbledon so Venus will need to take her seriously. Williams in round two defeated Anne Keothavong 7-5, 6-2 and in the third Round beat Maria Martinez Sanchez 6-1, 7-5. Venus Williams Wins In Wimbledon Round One 06.24.2008 LONDON-- Defending champion and four time Wimbledon winner Venus Williams of the USA Tuesday in round one defeated Naomi Cavaday of Britian 7-6(7-5), 6-1 after falling behind early 0-2 and 1-3. Venus had a slow start before adjusting the the big hitting of the lefthander with some big hitting of her own. Venus' serve reached speeds of 125mph.
