Venus Williams Reaches French Open Third Round
05.26.2010 PARIS-- Wednesday in the second round of the French Open, Venus Williams defeated Arantxa Parra Santonja of Spain 6-2,
6-4, hitting serves of up to 128 miles per hour. In the third round Venus takes on the 26th seeded Dominika Cibulkova of Slovakia.
Cibulkova leads Venus head to head 1-0 having won their only prior meeting in 2008 at Doha 6-3, 6-3. Venus did not play close
to her best in that match however. But she will need to play well in the third round as Cibulkova reached the semifinals
at Paris last year.
Venus, Venus Williams French Open Outfit Both Win
05.23.2010 Paris-- Venus Williams Sunday at the French Open in round one defeated the Swiss Patty Schnyder 6-3, 6-3 wearing a black
lace-like dress with see-through illusion. The skin color under pants we saw in January at the Australian Open also made a return today.
In the second round Venus playes either the 50th ranked Arantxa parra Santonja of Spain or the 147th ranked Kurumi Nara of Japan. Should

Venus Williams In Action Sunday At French Open
05.22.2010 Paris-- Venus Williams begins her 2010 French Open in Paris, France Sunday in round one versus the Swiss Patty Schnyder. Venus has beaten
Patty all ten times they have played including a 6-2, 6-2 Rome meeting a few weeks ago. But Patty is a tough claycourter so Venus will need to be
ready. ESPN2 and the Tennis Channel both will have coverage of the French Open.
Venus Williams Upset In Madrid Final
05.16.2010 Madrid-- Venus Williams may have been a bit tired from playing singles and doubles this week in Madrid as she has lost to Aravane Rezai
6-2, 7-5 after serving for the second set and holding several set points. Williams after the match said the Frenchwoman hit the ball hard but the
pressure will now be on her as expectations for her will be greater now.
Venus' next tournament will be Roland Garros known as the French Open in the USA. The second grand slam of the year will be played for two weeks
starting May 24th.
Venus Williams Meets Aravane Rezai Sunday
05.15.2010 Madrid-- Sunday in the Madrid singles final, Venus Williams is set to face the unseeded 23 year old Aravane Rezai
of France. Rezai hits very hard groundstrokes and this week upset both former number ones Justine Henin of Belgium and
Jelena Jankovic of Serbia. The Frenchwoman is tied with Venus head to head 1-1. Venus won 6-1, 6-2 at Amelia, Island
while Rezai won 6-4, 6-4 At Istanbul. Both matches were played in 2007.
But Venus likes pace and seems to be playing well this week so Venus has a good chance to win the Madrid singles title. Venus
and her sister Serena Williams won the doubles title Saturday at Madrid and the Williams sisters stand a very good chance of next
week being ranked number one in doubles.
Venus Williams Reaches Madrid Semifinals
05.14.2010 Madrid-- Saturday in the Madrid semfinals, Venus Williams takes on Shahar Peer of Israel. Head to head Venus leads Peer
4-0 and has never lost a set to her. Last week in the Rome round of sixteen, Venus defeated Peer 6-3, 6-4.
Friday in the quarterfinals, Venus defeated Samantha Stosur 6-3, 6-3. Watch the Youtube highlights on video.

Venus Williams Meets Samantha Stosur Friday
05.13.2010 Madrid-- After losing badly to Jelena Jankovic last week at Rome 6-0, 6-1, Venus has reached the Madrid quarterfinals where she
will face the Australian and 8th seeded Samantha Stosur. Venus leads Stosur 3-0 but has not played her since 2008. Stosur this year has won
12 or her last 13 matches on clay so she could be a tough opponent for Venus.
Regardless of the outcome of the match, next week Venus will move from 3 to 2 in the WTA Tour rankings which will mark the first time since
May of 2003 that Venus and her sister Serena Williams will be ranked number one and two.
Venus Williams Faces Jelena Jankovic Thursday
05.05.2010 Rome-- Wednesday in the third round, Venus Williams defeated Shahar Peer of Israel 6-3, 6-4 and faces a potentially much tougher
match Thursday in the quarterfinals versus the 7th seeded Jelena Jankovic of Serbia. Venus is tied head to head 5-5 versus the Serb who
prefers a slower surface such as the clay more than Williams.
Venus has won their last two meetings but has not beaten Jankovic on clay since 2006 in the Rome quarterfinals. Their last 9 matches have
gone three sets with Venus winning their
last encounter at last year's WTA Tour Championshiops 5-7, 6-3, 6-4. The Tennis Channel is scheduled to televise the match live in the USA.
Venus To Meet Shahar Peer Wednesday
05.04.2010 Rome-- At the Italian Open Tuesday, Venus Williams defeated Patty Schnder of Switzerland 6-2, 6-2 in the second round.
Wednesday in the third round, Venus takes on the 16th seeded Shahar Peer of Israel. Head to head Venus leads Peer 3-0, but the two
players have never met on clay.
This weekend, Venus could face her sister and the world number one player Serena Williams in the semifinals. Next week, Venus also
stands a very good chance of moving in the WTA Tour rankings from 4 to 3.
Venus Williams Into Miami Fourth Round
03.28.2010 Miami-- Venus Williams after getting a first round bye has won two easy matches at the Sony Ericsson Open to reach the
4th round, where she is to face the 19th seeded Daniela Hantuchova of Slovakia. Head to head Venus leads Hantuchova 9-0.
Venus, who has made headlines this week with her stylish red dress, has won 12 WTA Tour
matches in a row.
Venus Williams Wins Three Tournaments
03.05.2010 New York-- Venus Williams rebounded from a tough January quarterfinal Australian Open loss by winning three tournaments
in a row. Venus started her winning streak last month by winning the WTA Tour event in Dubai beating Victoria Azarenka in the final
6-3, 7-5.
Next Venus beat Polona Hercog in the final of the WTA Tour event in Acapulco 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 then won the Billie Jean King
Cup exhibition in New York by beating Kim Clijsters in the final 6-4, 3-6, 7-5.
